Madeira’s Welcome Message

João Gonçalves Zarco discovered the Archipelago of Madeira in 1418. It was one of the initial milestones in the epic voyages of the Maritime Discoveries, in which Portugal was one of the pioneers.
Since its discovery, the Archipelago of Madeira has favourably impressed its visitors with its features, namely with the landscape beauties and has become known as the Pearl of the Atlantic.
